A Review of How the New Term Papers Is Preparing

A Review of How the New Term Papers Is PreparingThe Royal College of Pupils is not known for its rigorous examinations but there is a new addition to the tests that have now been abolished. This is the new system where you have to do the paper sitting down. I think it would have been better if this had been introduced at an earlier stage in students' lives rather than the attainment of their college degree. If you look closely at the new system of term test papers the word sitting comes up a lot more often than it does in previous years. The one exception to this is the essay test and it is good to see that this has been taken out of the new term tests. This is because there is now an added time given to students to sit down and think about their essay.I found it quite worrying that a few students who will be working full time and juggling a social life and studies have just given up enough to sit down and think. It seems that sitting down to sit down has been replaced by cramming and rewording the answers. I thought this was a bad move when more universities are using online courses and they could have used that time to sit down and actually think about the paper. It is a shame that a little time has to be taken away from the original topics to just copy and paste answers from the book. The subjects which were part of the original course but are no longer being taught can't be taught as the students are not focusing on them at all. For instance, there are not a lot of people studying what Aristotle taught in his Philebus because their university does not teach it.There was a point in the essay test where the student had to say how long he/she thinks it would take to complete the task of turning a piece of wood into something else. I don't think the old method of answering such a question would be the best because it would be too long and students would become bored. If a student cannot answer such a question than it is pointless for them to take the course. The w ord sitting down should not be present when the essay test is just about to start. If the topic is good enough then they should have time to think about it before the questions are asked. Students are there to learn so it is good to see that there is now a compulsory study day on each of the term tests. However, if students are too tired to sit down to write a paper then a word of warning for them is that if they get five minutes without thinking about the subject than they are to go sit down and think. It's an interesting idea and I wonder what the statistics are when students take such tests. We need to ensure that our schools are happy with the results of the exams and are happy with the testing provided by the exam board. For example, the Royal College of Teachers came up with some questions to have more reflection and thought on and they looked great but we need to ensure that they do not become a part of each paper. That will help to make students more focused on the subjects ra ther than the rigid assessment regime that we now have.
